a lot of time seeing the academic and athletic activities of his grandkids. It's a lot of fun. Being one of the older members of NCSPAE he enjoys mixing with all the younger execs to pick their younger brains for information and maybe vice-versa once in a while. Also - Go Redskins (next year); Go Maryland; Go Wizards (Mike Jordan). He gets a little tired at our NCSPAE meetings of hearing all those rebels (from the deep South) bragging about their teams. (just kidding)
WASHINGTON
Rod Shafer
has been CEO of the Washington State Pharmacy Association
since 1994. Rod received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the
University of Washington in 1977. Since that time his career has included
work in long-term care, hospital, and community (both chain and independent)
pharmacy settings. He is also an Affiliate Associate Professor at the
University of Washington School of Pharmacy.
WEST VIRGINA
Richard D. Stevens
has been Executive Director of the West Virginia
Pharmacists Association since September 1978. He has a B.S. degree
in Economics and completed post graduate studies in Macroeconomics. In
addition to operational responsibilities of WVPA, he is also responsible
for governmental and legislative affairs. He and his wife, Beverly,
have two married daughters.
WISCONSIN
Christopher J. Decker
(Chris) is the Executive Vice President and
CEO of the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW). PSW was created in
1998 through the consolidation of the two Wisconsin organizations previously
representing pharmacists in Wisconsin: The Wisconsin Pharmacists Association
(WPhA) and the Wisconsin Society of Health-System Pharmacists (WSHP). Chris
began employment with WPhA as its Executive Director in 1990 and continued
in a similar role with the development and launch of PSW. Prior to
moving to Wisconsin Chris served on the staff of the Iowa Pharmacists Association
for approximately two years. Chris graduated from the University of
Iowa College of Pharmacy and completed graduate studies in business administration
at Drake University. He has been married to his wife, Cathy, for 14
years and they have three children, Joey (11), Mary Catherine (9), and Johnny
(6).
