I am pleased to announce the continuation of the NASPA/Merck State Pharmacy Association Grant Program. We are grateful to Merck and Dave Miller, Director of Pharmacy Affairs, for making this grant program possible once again. The Grant Program is designed to allow state associations to undertake significant projects of value to state associations and the profession of pharmacy which otherwise might not be accomplished. The 2008 Grant Program will be divided into two segments: (1) grants to a state pharmacy association that would be of value to state associations and the profession of pharmacy which otherwise might not be accomplished. Projects targeted towards assisting state pharmacy association meet their members’ continuing education needs and assist them in compliance with ACPE continuing education accreditation standards are of particular interest, but other projects will be considered; and (2) a grant to fund a Request for Proposal (RFP) to conduct a needs assessment of the state pharmacy associations’, their members and non-members on what support, services, CE offerings are needed to assist the state pharmacy association in the provision of optimal CE in their state; and a basic business plan including strategic action steps.
Once again the total grant amount is $50,000. The grant will be divided between the two segments. For the first segment, the targeted amount a state can receive is $5,000 - $7,500 for a project proposal. The grant for the second segment will be awarded to a single organization or individual for their selected RFP.
I will again be administering the activities for the Grant Program. I will work closely with the NASPA Grant Review Committee to coordinate all Grant Program activities and application queries.
The attached pages outline the instructions and guidelines for submitting a grant application. The application deadline is Friday, February 1, 2008.
The Grant Review Committee will be established by the NASPA Executive Committee. The successful applicants will be announced at the NASPA meeting in March 2008 in San Diego, CA. Applications must be emailed to akpharm@cox.net by February 1, 2008.
