Baugh accepts NASPA position

RICHMOND, Va., March 23, 2009 - The National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Jessica Baugh, for the position of executive resident.

Baugh was born in Seoul, Korea and grew up in Voorheesville, NY.  She is scheduled to graduate in May 2009 from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

She was a member of Lambda Kappa Sigma (professional pharmacy fraternity), American Pharmacists Association (APhA), a student member of the Pharmacists Society of the State of NY (PSSNY), Colleges Against Cancer, Service Club, Equestrian Club, and had served as the historian and secretary/treasurer for class of 2009 in the Student Government Association.

Baugh has had rotations with National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) and Pharmacists Society of the State of New York (PSSNY) which sparked her interest in the field.

She has worked as an intern for Rite Aid Pharmacy and Four Corners Pharmacy. “I hope to obtain an executive resident position that will allow me to gain knowledge and experience in the area of quality assurance, medication safety, regulation of medications, and work with associations on a state and national level,” said Baugh. 

In her role with NASPA, Baugh will focus on enhancing the value of NASPA to its members and learning about association management.  Project areas will include, assisting NASPA members with their focused activities around the implementation plan for the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners (JCPP) 2015 Vision for the practice of pharmacy, the value of the pharmacists assuring optimal medication therapy outcomes, adherence, PQA quality measures, patient safety, and enhancing and streamlining communication for NASPA.

The National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) promotes leadership, sharing, learning, and policy exchange among pharmacy leaders in all 50 states and Washington, DC, and provides education and advocacy to support pharmacists, patients, and communities working together to improve public health.  NASPA was founded in 1927 as the National Council of State Pharmacy Association Executives (NCSPAE).
